Re: Leather Choices and My Growing Family.
Hey Savannah! What a shame that they messed up the leather on that piece of the sectional! I'm am, however, thrilled to see the Tiburon Java on the one piece you did get to keep. It looks TOTALLY DIFFERENT from the samples!! Wow, not super deep and dark at all!! But tell me, are the back cushions that much darker than the seat cushions and sides or was it just the camera? Honestly, what I see is lovely!! Amazing choice of leather and nails. They look REALLY good together! Please don't worry about me... I will get it all figured out. But I think I'm going to need Duane's help to get out of the stuck position I'm in !! ;~>
Please don't make us beg and take pics of the sofa for us to droll over the leather!! LOL!! And I hope all is fixed fast and you get the other half back soon!

LOL you're cracking me up! Yes, it is totally my iphone messing with the color and shading inside. The back cushions are the same color as the rest of it. The entire wall on each side of and above that piece of sofa is 12' of windows that go up to the ceiling with indirect light streaming in straight at the phone's camera sensor. I will try to get my dslr out and take a pic if I can get far enough away to capture it in our little living room. It looks like the leather on the Sloane sofa up top that I was loving!

Here's an up-close right now in the house.
This leather is scrumptious!

Colors look a little strange and green on the back cushions thanks again to the phone and lighting. They all match I promise and no green, ha! Stay stuned for better "real" photos later! I cant wait to see how it would look with creamy walls. Our rental came with that color of paint... 3 more months and this lovely will have a new home anyway!

Here is a "real" photo of the cushions and base. The light from the windows is hitting the top of the cushions, whereas the base appears darker because no light is hitting it.

Savannah,
What is the size and location of that dinged spot? Do you think it might have resulted from one of those pressure points Duane mentioned somewhere else in the forum? If I correctly recall, the pieces to be delivered are turned on end with other pieces stacked on top, in order to fill the cargo space most efficiently. This can result in some pieces arriving with pressure points but not necessarily torn.

Jeeezzz!! I'm not sure what's more exciting, the fact that you got an awesome color, delicious Tiburon sofa or that you'll be in Hawaii for summer enjoying it!!
You know, those pictures are making me want my sofa in that leather.... It's the Caramel -deeper of course but still Caramel - that I was wanting all along. Remember? Not yellow, not green, and definitely not red. Tiburon takes me out of T&C though.......
Thanks for the pics... Keep them coming!!

and the big finale... humble little short piece of the sectional :D.
Again, the light is casting a shadow on the back cushions, so disregard them appearing darker.
Re: Leather Choices and My Growing Family.
When a piece is damaged in shipping and transport, its important to refuse it right then and there, not make calls the next day or after the driver leaves. Delivery companies take these pieces out of the truck and blanket wrap them, and they are stacked vertically in the truck in most all cases and tied down. That damage appears to be a friction chafe where the tiedown was not adequately padded against the piece and wore through. My guess is that that panel will require a new piece of leather in that section as its a pure aniline hide, whereas a painted leather can be filled, sanded and painted if the restoration expect knows his craft well. Pure Anilines cannot get that repair treatment. It does take time to get it back to North Carolina, then a Return Authorization to H&M (if required) and reship back. The actual repair time is very quick, just a couple of days, mostly its the transit time to and fro. Damages like this occur in less than 5% of the ships. It's quite inconvenient and disappointing when it happens to you, however.
Almost all these blanket wrap services remove the pieces from their cartons for two reasons 1) Maximizes their load-out of the truck 2) they have no way to dispose of the packing trash enroute on their trips. However, the delivery team loses their bonus pay on anything damaged, so its in their best interests to make sure it doesn't happen and they pack the trucks themselves as they are responsible for the cost of repairs.
For customers that want a higher level of security against damages there are other, higher cost delivery services available as an option but they can run up to double the cost in shipping. With those companies, the pieces are left in the original mfgr packing to your driveway, and damage instances are virtually nil in those ships - most people do not opt for this because of the much higher cost.

It was on an end. It was definitely torn, though. :(.
