A little custom work on a Chest

A lot of folks get scared off of custom work because they think its too expensive. Most the time, its not that bad. Here's an example of a chest I delivered to a customer yesterday. This is a 4-Drawer Chippendale Chest in Tiger Maple made by JL Treharn out of Ohio. My customer wanted the top drawer made into two drawers. So we did. The custom charge was $ 250 to make it as she specified (Base price of a standard chest was $ 1,959 as seen in the first picture). I actually like her mod much better than the regular piece, and have suggested to Treharn they standardize the piece as such.

Nice work there. Sometimes becomes irritating to not get something the way you wanted it.
The customer probably was facing such a problem with the top drawer.

I completely agree with you. Changing the top drawer into two drawers changes the piece from something ordinary and generic into a chest with real character.
