How do i know which of my 2 couches is better furniture for reapolstering?

Hello furniture gurus..I have 2 couches that are old fabric.One is called Conover made in Conover,NC and is an older fabric I'd like to update with newer fabric.It was bought in
Michigan about 30 yrs ago.Still looks good,nice piece.
The other is a couch ruined by my cat,(nubby texture that was clawed) that was purchased from Cincinnati about 10 yrs ago that is a Gary Allen Home Collection. One of them I'd like to keep ,the give away.How do I know which is the better one to keep?? Tx for advice.
