Help id'ing Bar/Gambling/speakeasy? cabinet
Hey,
Thanks for allowing me to join and post!
Found this cabinet at a thrift shop and don't know what to call it. Some things have been replaced, like rear backing. Original piece has 8447 stamped in it. I removed that bottom metal cabinet insert and it was also stamped 8447, so its original to the cabinet. Drawer has original insert for cards and poker chips. The bar slots in the upper part seem to be later. 1800s style locks. Please see link for photos!
Thanks for any help!
Terry

Want the good news or the bad news?
The Good News is your photos are extraordinary. That is the way to do a good photo set so someone like me can actually see the pieces. Well done.
The Bad News is that is an unremarkable piece, with no real value. It has chipped veneers, plywood back, cheap hinges, poor joinery and is a belt-sanded production item. I have no idea of the maker, but don't spend the time or energy to restore it, just use it as is after a quick clean up is my advice.
