Can anyone help me identify this piece

I was given this by a lady yesterday. There are no maker marks or anything. I'm not even sure what type of chair it is to help with a Google search. It's like a barrel chair? It has velvet upholstery. The seat of the chair appears to be stuffed with straw and I can also feel some springs. After messing with it yesterday, I found out the sides that are black, must have been done later because there is beautiful wood underneath. If anyone could help me to try to identify the type of chair and maybe the type of wood, I'd so appreciate it. Ty!

A lot of work to fix that old chair up, be sure you love it before you dive in. I has no collective value to my eye. Good luck
