Question BY Tilt back leather chair

I purchased a BY Chair several years ago that had a tilt back and half moon otterman. The tilt back mechanism has failed. It will just lay down with not return to the sitting position. The chair is in great condition. Can your purchase a replacement mechanism for this chair? and it there someone that can replace it? Thanks C Cary

Your gas strut has lost its pressure.

I have two replacement struts in inventory (not going to re-order any more since my store is closing). $ 65 each + $ 10 shipping. That will restore the function. Go to this page to order if you like, you will see it on the bottom of the page. https://keepingroom.com/leather-care Fill out the request and I will email you an invoice. You can do this yourself in 15 minutes. See the photos below. I use a plastic automotive trim removal tool to not mar the leather when popping the panel off the tacks, you *can* use a screwdriver, but you will mark the leather. Trim tools are $ 5 at Amazon

Sorry, I don't do the installs of parts. The back panel has a tack strip, it simple tacks back on after you detach it. Contact a local upholstery business near you if you want to hire it done.

Received the cylinder got the old one off. But the new on is different. I’ll send you a pic. Will the new one work? It attaches differently.

That is the only cylinder on the market, there are no other options. You may have to adapt slightly on older tilt back chairs.

The old one pulls from the bottom. The new one pulls from the top. Will that make a difference?Click image for larger version.
