You got that right! I wonder if that handbag would last 30+ years...

Yeah, but you wouldn't want it to last 30 years. It will be out of style in April.

The link sent me to the regular handbag collection, but I noticed the nav bar shows 'Icon Handbags'. There is an ugly brown thing there for $35k! I think I would find a deal on a 2006 or 07 M5 first.

OK I'll admit that I've spent $1,500 on a purse or three in my life and honestly, after 2-3 years I am sick to death of them so now I limit myself to $500 or $600, then I don't feel as guilty when I give them to someone else or sell them on Ebay. However, those bags from Bottega or Gucci or other top end lines will bring a reasonable amount after a few years with less percentage money lost than my X5.

WOW I was at a ladies business luncheon about 10 years ago in NYC and won a Louis Vuitton Lap top bag with eye dare you pattern. Ugliest thing ever..It is still in my closet in the bag it came in. I guess I should have ebayed it. So many fakes that it is hard to tell who has the real vs. the fake unless you examine it. Sofas are different. I'd spent thousands on a leather sofa because the use I will get from it makes sense but a handbag..no friggin' way! (I can say friggin' right Duane )

Here’s a handbag anecdote for ya. I found a vintage, classic, high-end designer bag in a thrift store about a decade ago, which I snapped up for less than $100. I had it appraised by a professional—and durn it, it was the Real Thing. The thing is, it was so fancy and nice, I couldn’t get myself to wear it. Anyway EBay has an online handbag authentication service, so I put my vintage handbag up for auction right before this Christmas—and it sold!!! For a fortune. A FORTUNE. At least for a handbag. (The authenticating service they had verified that it was the real deal, too). I couldn’t believe it.

So I’m buying a Hancock and Moore leather sofa with the proceeds (plus some). It’s beautiful, it’s practical—and I won’t be afraid to use it. WORTH IT.
