    Default B&Y 581-95 sofa - leather question

    Hi,
Does anyone have this stationary sofa?
Can anybody comment on B&Y red leather - 9001-68? It is listed as AP "Anniline Plus" grade 3.

    Thanks,
    Diane

It's a good sitter for most folks. Leather 9001 series is a good, mainstay hide. Nice hand, excellent texture, has a 'smokey' look to it. Expect reds to vary from the samples. Most reds will look 'brighter' on a sofa than on the swatch.

Thanks Duane. I can buy one off the floor as clearance for 1799 including tax. Is that a good deal? My dream couch is H&M Evening Sofa in Capri Butternut - probably at least double the price? Thanks!!

Thanks Duane. You are a prince!! A couple of more questions about BY if you don't mind.....This 9001-68 leather listed as Anniline Plus - what does that mean? Is AP a finished leather, which I assume is not as nice, or a true anniline?

Also, if I buy this sofa on clearance from a this dealer - he told me there is no store warranty or service. Would I have to deal with the factory directly for all issues?

    Thanks again!!

An Aniline Plus is a hybrid leather that is technically a protected leather, but has an aniline dip-dye as its color base. Its closer to performance and feel to a finished leather than a pure aniline.

That's a sticky wicket on warranty and service. Sounds like he is dropping the line from his store. You're buying that sofa at very close to dealer cost, so it doesn't surprise me. B-Y prefers that you work through a dealer for warranty and service, but that doesn't mean you can't go direct - it would just be more difficult. Chances are you will never need any warranty service on it.
