Default Putting your feet on the couch arms

Can lying down on your couch with your feet on the arms of the couch damage it? The couch is not leather.

    Thanks for your help.

No it won't that's what it was designed for.

Never let kids jump on sofas like a trampoline however, that does an incredible amount of damage in a very short time.

Thank you. That's what I have been telling my girlfriend but she won't listen to reason.

Putting feet on anything other than a bed, an ottoman or a footstool in my home is a quick way to make sure you aren't invited back.

I'm not saying it's polite, just whether or not it can damage (tear or rip) the couch. Plus, it's my house so I'm always invited.
