Can you elaborate for those of us who tend to be a bit wonky?

There is less breakdown than in standard cores and also Ultra Down, and that comes back to you as the buyer in longevity WITH comfort. I have Spring Down in my newest chair (2 months old) at home, a Westwood Recliner in Burnished leather, and I love it. The construction of a Spring Down core is totally different than foam based as well.
Will you be able to tell the difference between the standard cushion and the upgraded spring down?

I'm wondering why did you change your mind about spring down cushions and if you still consider that type of cushion may create hairline cracks on protected leather?

Yes, you can tell the difference, otherwise there would be no need to make a change.

Like most things, nothing is static in industry and there are changes made to the product. Spring Down cores are vastly improved over what the product was 15 years ago. If a leather is prone to showing hairline stress marks, it will not matter what the core is.
