I've had several customers complain about top cushion alignments on leather ottomans over the years, and had another just this week. I thought it a good time to address the issue here on the forum so everyone can be aware of this and know what to expect.
Any time you order a leather ottoman where the top cushion is semi-attached, chances are there will be some 'floating' of the top cushion and the edges will not align. There may be a corner that will overhang 1/4" to 1/2" or so and that's the norm for this kind of ottoman. They simply cannot get the alignment any better when sewing up the hides because of the semi-attached nature of the unit.
If you find this something you cannot tolerate, then order a tight-top or button-tufted ottoman and the form will be squared up all the way around.
Here's photos of a Hancock and Moore # 9829 City and a Half ottoman (Top in Garfield Chestnut, bottom in Flora Honey) that customer expressed some reservations with the alignments. The difference is also highlighted by the lighter nature of the Flora Honey leather, which makes the visual breaks more distinct. This piece is considered within spec and tolerances.

The two leather combination also also contributes to the visual offset of the edges. Had your customer used only a single leather the offset might have been much less objectionable. My personal taste would not have been to combine these two leathers, too much contrast in shade and pattern/solid does not work well.
Duane, do you recall the wood finish and nail head? These are good closeups, so I'd like to add that info to the image index.
