Here's a photos of a recliner footrest in Capri Harness by Hancock and Moore, a rather expensive GR 4 leather. Notice in the detail shot, there is an area on the footrest where the color didn't take well, and it appears as small white dots in the photo. Sometimes you don't even notice this sort of thing unless its in bright sunlight and elevated in a truck bed, like this piece was.

Yes, this is a fault in the leather. Yes, they probably should have seen this upon final inspection, but its very slight and can easily be missed. On this particular piece I decided to remove the footrest and return it to H&M for recover rather than deliver to the customer. It becomes a judgement call and is cosmetic in nature only, it won't affect the life span of the hide or piece.

It can be more complicated is this is on the top of a sofa arm and a customer lives in California, however. What to do then? Return the whole sofa and have it gone for 6 to 8 weeks? In most cases a professional touch-up leather service can fix this on-site, which is what I would recommend as a course of action.

Just an FYI for all the long distance buyers out there, its an imperfect world and sometimes things like this come up. Easy for a local dealer to resolve, more difficult when there is shipping involved.
