    Default Other Hobbies?

So what other hobbies, or interests does everyone have?

My hobbies personally are( in no particular order):
    Cars
    Dogs
    Cooking/BBQ
    Photography
    Working out
    Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

I am a bit of a foodie. Other then cooking, baking, and bbq'ng, there is nothing I love more then going out on a Saturday night with friends/family to one of my favorite restaurants, or scouting for new ones.

Feel free to post some pictures as well

    Ill start:
Here is a thick cut "Iowa chop", I rubbed it down with EVOO, and seasoned each side liberally with kosher salt, and fresh ground black pepper.

While my fire was heating up, I made a glaze with some Pineapple Habanero pepper jelly, and dark rum.

I like to sear at 750 degrees.. Almost there.

On the coals. Sear for 90 sec per side.

Then I pull it out, and shut the vents down, letting the chop rest until the cooker temp comes down to about 400 deg, which takes about 20min. Glaze it, and throw it back on the grill with some applewood. I cooked it roughly an additional 8 min a side, glazing it every 4 min or so. I pulled it at 140, which is medium for pork.

Then I let it rest for another 10min, to let the juices re-distribute.

Juicy as can be, and ready to eat.

    And some BBQ:
Country Style pork ribs, rubbed down, smoked with applewood, then glazed with a Sriacha/honey glaze.

Turned out really good. Nice combination of salty, sweet, and spicy.

Hmmm..so there is life outside of work? Do tell !! Well let's see what I do when I'm not furniture-man.

Cars and Motorcycles for me. I like to custom-modify them - the more difficult the work the more fun it is - and drive 'em/ride 'em/race 'em. A lifelong passion that has consumed vast amounts of cash and the occasional girlfriend (before I was married), and I am very thankful my best pal is a Snap-On Tool Franchise owner. My wife has resigned herself to my habit and tolerates it fairly well. I do however, think I have put my last automatic transmission in a BMW during the middle of the winter with the car on jackstands. That had a really low enjoyment value after 8 hours on a cold concrete floor in spite of the bragging rights. Motorcycles are way more fun to work on than cars, not as cramped when wrenching, a man has some room to move around.

Computers/Electronics/Photography. I like fiddling with all that stuff but am not as good at it as I would like to be. The proof of that can be seen in this forum, where I get stuck doing something technical and have to ask Aaron or Gail to bail me out <G>

History & Politics. I am a bonafide U.S. History buff, and if I had the time would spend much of it exploring out-of-the-way historic places, especially on my motorcycle which has the capability to get off the beaten path better than a 4-wheeler. I can stand atop a battlefield ridge such as the sweeping and picturesque beauty at Sharpsburg for an hour or longer (much the chagrin of whomever is with me) and envision the cannons booming at the troops below. It takes me 8 hours to go through the Holocaust museum downtown so I almost always leave the family behind...I read everything, study it all. Or I go to historic Mt. Vernon during the slow times and get the 'private' tour so I don't have to rush through the house like they push the tourists through in 15 minutes.

Here's a custom install I did in my Porsche. A Pioneer stereo/nav unit with Ipod/Iphone hookup and a concealed radar/laser jammer system totally hidden except for the control panel. The custom panel i made in front of the gearshift lever for the control modules was done from a Hancock and Moore Quintessence Eclipse leather sample! These two projects alone were close to 50 hours to install....they have to be perfect and look factory installed with no permanent damage to the car, my goal is to make them always 100 % reversible to stock (of course I never do).

I ask that you do NOT call my store with general furniture questions, that is what the forum is for

Thanks, I would be happy to oblige. Cooking is a passion of mine. I spent a lot of time around my grandparents growing up, and both are amazing cooks. I have them to thank.

It looks like you keep busy, wow..lol

That looks nice! I love clean, factory looking installs. Is that the Avic-z120bt? What jammer/radar did you go with? Escort?

I love to modify cars, bikes, atv's etc. I will mod a jazzy scooter if I am ever confined to one

Here was some gauges I did in my evo, relocated the factory radio, and did a boost controller in the ashtray

My first subaru...I miss this car This was almost 10 years ago. Before all the nice, sleek head units of today.lol The silver box was air fuel gauge, datalogger, and det-can. I could hook directly to my laptop, log runs, make any tuning changes, listen for knock through bosch knock sensors, etc. Very functional piece, but unattractive as all get out, I finished it later with a nice trim piece so it at least looked cleaner. I will never figure out why they made it such an odd size vs making it a din. . Down below is a boost controller.

Here is one you will like.. VF Engineering Supercharged E39 540I /M package. This car was IMMACULATE.

Good stuff, Dave! Sleek mods, that's the ticket..... so you made a E39 with a huffer on it, eh? Sneaked up on M5's and blew them away I bet, while they were left scratching their heads at the '540i' badge on the deck. I like your EVO install - very hi-tech and clean.

Yes, that's the flagship Pioneer unit in there and the radar/laser unit is a 9500 ci. I only go for the good stuff - just like in furniture.

I am the same way, if I can't do what I really want, then I will wait until I can. I hate compromises..lol I learned at an early age, buying something as a compromise, selling it off, just to buy what you really wanted, costs more money..lol

I am sure you can see a bit of that mentality in my sofa purchase.

My wife hates me for it. I always blow every budget I ever make. The s2k was supposed to be a 12-15k "fun car", and of course I have to get the limited production, super rare model..

I'm also quite fond of cars, particularly luxury models (then again, what man isn't?). For hybrids, I like the new Tesla models quite a bit, but I have yet to test drive one.

In the long-term, I'm interested in buying some vintage luxury autos, specifically some of the classic James Bond cars from the Connery-era films.

I have a very unique hobby. I like to collect hoodies, jackets, hats and fan stuff of different rappers and music artists like Juice Wrld, Eminem, Enrique, Pitbull etc. I am a music lover and also want to be a great singer in the future. I also like to play instruments in my spare time.
