I have eliminated the Berkshire tobacco. My choices for my September sofa are now Aspen Saddle or Dream tobacco. I like the color of the Aspen Saddle a little better in the room. The Dream tobacco seems softer (and its softness rating is a 3) than the Aspen. (which has a rating of 2) I realize the swatches may have been handled differently. I happen to also have an Aspen tobacco swatch and it also doesn't seem as soft as the Dream. Maybe the a 2 vs. a 3 is a negligible difference anyway. I want to make this decision asap as we are moving our family room sofa into our soon to be finished basement and so won't have a sofa to sit on in the family room.
Of the two, I prefer Aspen, it has more of an aniline look while still being fully protected. Dream may be a little softer, but its also a bit more processed looking. While you won't go wrong with either one, to my eyes the Aspen has a richer look to it.

Hi Duane,
My September sofa with Aspen saddle leather came today. I really like the leather! I think it is very rich looking. Thanks for giving me your opinion. It's one of the reasons I went with this leather.
Excellent! I think Aspen is over-looked quite often and for a 'protected' leather is the best one in the H&M lineup in a price grade 2 category. It has a soft hand, is not over-worked like the more popular Document series and looks more like a true aniline than any other protected leather short of Antelope (which is a much more costly Grade 4). Keep it clean and conditioned and it will last many, many years.
