    Default Better Business Bureau

I often refer to the Better Business Bureau and other websites to ascertain companies ratings, reviews and complaints before buying from them.

Would it be wise to steer clear of a business that has a Better Business Bureau score of less than an A?

Depends. What is the reason for being less then an A? How much less then an A?

I have seen solid businesses have less then an A, due to length of time with BBB, BBB not having enough info, etc.

HA! My BBB rating is a "B":

If I joined their club and paid the membership dues I could be an "A"

BBB is a joke. If you really want to check up on a business contact the State Attorney General's office where they are located and investigate complaints there or else the state run Consumer Protection Agency.

I think I remember that after joining up with BBB and paying the annual dues we started off with an A- rating. We were not eligible for an A rating until we had been BBB members for 4 years. I believe that in order to get an A+ rating we need to be a dues paying member for 10 years.
