Question Petite Wife - Recliner Suggestions Needed

This must be a common enough problem. My lovely wife of 31 years is barely 5 feet tall. For years her feet have dangled off the floor with every sofa, chair and recliner we have owned. Whenever I would mention to her how uncomfortable that must be she'd laugh and say, "You get used to it."

Some 10 years ago while looking at beds she found a recliner with an 18.5" seat height and a 21" seat depth. Impulsively I later went back to the store and bought it for her. It fits her, but sadly, it is now worn and tired.

What I am looking for is a suitable recliner for my wife. Can anyone suggest a recliner that would fit her?

Funny, I swear I saw a Hancock and Moore recliner on this very website for $1400+ that was for the petite. But now I can't find it.

    Help?!

Maybe the Athens or Cody Wall-Hugger recliner?

    Athens Wall-Hugger
    Cody Wall-Hugger

Both have a listed seat height of 19.5" and a seat depth of 19.5" and 20" respectively.

Those are the two Hancock and Moore that come to mind for me.

Bradington Young has one, link here. Seat height is 18" and is 20" deep.

    Hope this helps.

I don't know about H&M and other brands but you may want to check out a dealer for Smith Brothers, went shopping for a recliner for me and ended up getting her one instead and all the petite people who try it love it. It's a swivel/rocker recliner, I don't have the model number off hand though. While I was looking for my new chair she decided to sit down and it was the nearest piece to us or she would of never tried it, well she sat there for awhile and told me it was so comfortable she didn't want to get up so it was decided to get her a new chair instead of my previous recliner.

And this Leathercraft model as well.....pay no mind to the posted dimensions, this is by far the top selling recliner in my store for petite ladies. And if you are near Wash DC, I do keep on on display in the store.

Question Re: Petite Wife - Recliner Suggestions Needed

Thanks for the suggestions. That is a beautiful recliner, the 297-07. I'd never get my wife out of it! Is it priced comparable to the 237-07?

I'll probably get a few chuckles for asking this question, but is it feasible to take a Hancock and Moore 1021 recliner, for example, and simply cut an inch or so off each leg? I'm not talking about attacking the chair with a chainsaw. Maybe it could be ordered that way? Or does that become cost prohibitive? Just thinking.........I'm glad you're thinking about those hardworking petite women out there Duane.

    Yes, its comparable in price.

You can't modify the legs on recliners by cutting them down because the mechanism 'swings' through an arc on the bottom of the piece and can get caught on carpeting if you do. Almost all the makers are VERY hesitant to do this mod and will decline the custom request.
