Hi Everyone,
I'm considering these chairs posted on CL & need your opinion. The price seems high ($1700) considering there's damage on the leather, but the chairs retail for $2200 each in my area.
Any thoughts? What would a reasonable offer be for the pair? The owner said they were purchased new in 1993; built to order and made of cherry (not oak).
Thanks!

The price seems really high to me, too. They're not antique nor unique in any way--I found the chair offered on the website of several dealers. Also, you'd have to recover the cushions, which would probably run you several hundred dollars if you have them recovered in leather. If you really, really love the chairs, offer the price you would feel comfortable paying, all things considered.
It is offered by dealers at $2200 per chair, so at $1700 for both is pretty good...but they are 18 years old! And some damage. What is the typical depreciation on Stickley furniture?
I would offer them $1000 considering the age and damage, if you really like them.
They look in pretty decent shape. That leather can be re-worked and repaired for about $ 100 per chair. But for 18 years old I would not pay that much. $ 1K is about tops, I agree with Danw99.

I'm surecthat would be about right. I was referring to a touch-up, not a full re- do.
