Default Lots of new pieces from JL Treharn & Co.

This past Sunday afternoon (01/29/12) the JL Treharn truck showed up and we unloaded a WHOLE BUNCH of new furniture into my store. Too much - I'm jammed and trying to make it all fit. What a mess! The Treharns basically send over about half their High Point Market showroom with brand new pieces that are not even on their website yet, to gauge customer response and sentiment about them. There is some exciting product in the mix and almost all of it is in stunning tiger (curly) maple - I like it a lot. If you're local to my store, stop in and see them as they are very unique and different from what they have built in the past. As I get caught up, I'll photo them and post them back here. Still trying to make space for everything right now and get it displayed properly, however, so it may be a few days.

I like these new items! I don't even know the names of the pieces or have set pricing for them yet. Out of time to do that today....

These are all for sale and the first prototypes. These will become regular line pieces with perhaps some mods for production - but for the time being the Treharn Company (family business in Ohio) wanted to showcase them in my store and get feedback on them. Some of these are stunning - excellent board sets. These are solid wood items, no junk filler wood or veneers. Some of these are heart-break heavy. Ugh.

There is one large rough-hewn cherry table I couldn't fit in the store, so it will have to come in later as space frees up.
    On to the photos...

I think Treharn really knocked it out of the park on these pieces. They are well-executed, thought out, and made the old-school way. The current trend from most makers is to 'fake' thick board lumber. You see it at Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Arhaus and hundreds other. They don't really make 'thick' solid lumber tops and pieces, but instead 'box them out' building hollow interiors and and using visual tricks to create the illusion of solid wood when its not. These Treharn pieces are not like that - they are built of solid lumber alll the way through. When you see a 1 1/4" top on that Trestle table - its a full solid slab of thick tiger maple, not 1/4" of good wood over junk filler. So these pieces are heavy - and they use a lot of material. One more note.....these are what we call 'ringers', built for the High Point Market. What that means is the figured wood in them is especially strong and exceptional as these are showplace items. Standard production pieces will be similar, but probably not as heavily grained as you are seeing here.

Since ya'll like the bed, here's some more photos. It's shown in a Queen size, and is called the Charleston Panel Bed. In Solid Tiger Maple with the Early American Stain, scraped. Price is $ 3,052. FOB Youngstown OH or Alexandria VA. That's a Royal Pedic All Cotton Box and Matt with 3" Topper loaded in the bed for display, so that's why the bed is not fully made

This bed requires a blanket wrap service to deliver and its heavy. Takes appx 1 hour to set up. FYI, I've seen a lot of beds, this is under-priced in the marketplace for what it is. I don't set the prices, Treharn does - but as much material as this bed consumes and the complex milling on this piece, it should be closer to $ 4,500 in my opinion. Get 'em while you can at that price...

    Hi Duane,

Boy, are these pieces stunning! I am looking for a round pedestal table to put between the sundance sofas I had delivered last week. Has anything come in from JL Treharn that might work? Since the sundances are so deep, I would prefer it be at least 28" in diameter if not more.

If nothing from JL Treharn fits the bill, do you have anything else that might?

    Thanks!
    Lisa

I see so much furniture that it is very rare for a particular line or item to really grab my attention. These new JL Treharn pieces are amazing. These are the best looking case pieces I've seen in many years. I'm also astonished that the price for the bed is only $3000.
