Hello --
We are in the final stages of purchasing a sofa and I'd like some thoughts on which sofa to buy. We are considering the Chesterfield and the Sanctuary in a Class 2 Leather. The sofa will be used in the Great Room or main living area off the kitchen. Typically only to be as a sitting room for conversations, coffee, and maybe finger foods, but no meals. We will also have a TV in this room for mostly movies or light entertainment. This room will not be used for 'comfort' seating, or cuddling (we have that sofa in a different room already), but more for guest conversation, reading, and occasional TV watching.
Please let me know your thoughts on the best sofa for upright seating without feeling uncomfortable.
Also any other sofa suggestions are also welcome.
Thanks!
Those are two very different sofas. the Chesterfields have short backs and typically sit lower to the ground. Most of them are small profile. The Sanctuary is a larger, more plush sofa by far. While I like the Chesterfield series for home offices and libraries, etc, I would want a Sanctuary for a Great Room if I were buying it.

Makes sense. Is the Sanctuary too plush? I noticed that the cushion is one big cushion, instead of three individual cushions. Will we sink into the sofa?
That's hard to say as there is no standard for what is 'too plush'. One of our forum members just took delivery of hers recently, perhaps look around here on the forum for photos and her thoughts on it. You will never sink into a well-made sofa, however, that's a sign of poor construction.
