And people have little heart attacks when I tell them a good reproduction rug in silk is about $ 250 a square foot.....lol

Handwoven carpets from the Middle East really are works of art. I collect them and think I have (10) in my house, but none are silks, they are all Wool on Wool (about $ 90 per s.f.). I might just buy a silk next time I'm in Turkey, however. The rug market took a hit during the Recession, but I think its coming back now. They are nice to own, add brilliance in a room you will not get from any other kind of rug and will last 100's of years if the family pets don't destroy them. I was shocked to see what this one sold for - but it was made in the 1600's and like they say 'they ain't makin' 'em like that any mo'"
