I want to say the first coating lasted a good 3 or 4 years at least before the high traffic areas were showing wear. At that point I power washed and put another coat on and it lasted another few years before needing another coat. I was extremely pleased given the deck was in direct sun with no shade whatsoever and we had a large dog who used the deck constantly to get into the backyard. I did sand the fresh boards before I coated them the first time. You might need to remove any existing coatings before applying Sikkens if you aren't starting from scratch.

Finally we are getting our deck done! Thinking of buying a swing. How is your Cedar Porch Swing holding up Duane?
