Re: what color for a sofa
Sure....
First of all >>>> Budget. There is a fairly good price jump when you go from price grade to price grade, about 15% for each step up (GR 1 is the least expensive, GR 5 the most). Say a sofa is $ 4,000 in GR 1, then 2 would be about $ 4,600, 3 would be about $ 5,300, 4 would be about $ 6,100....etc...
Burgundy is an 'earth tone' so you can use blues or camel, its just your choice. Capri Harness - IMHO - is the best looking and finest hide in the whole line. Its a GR 4. Tierra French Luggage is a very cool leather, lots of character, but can't hold a candle to Capri for softness and luxury feel. Weston Cane is a nice German waxy leather that I like a lot, but if you can't tolerate pressure marks take a pass on it. When burnished it changes character entirely. Tiburon is an Italian waxxy pull-up that shows a high degree of color bursts when exposed to pressure. Colombia Acorn is a very nice GR 1 hide, but its not really comparable to these higher end leathers you are looking at. Its like comparing milk to a milkshake.
Everyone wants durable. The key to that is keep it clean and wiped down, and occasionally conditioned. # 1 cause of leather failure is that it was never cleaned. # 2 cause is sunlight fade.
