Custom Lectrun in Whiite Oak by John Buchanan
One of the local high schools came to me in late spring and asked if I could get them a lecturn made that won't break and will last for years. Of course I can! So we built this to their specifications (John Buchanan is the cabinentmaker) and it's like a tank. We used White Oak instead of maple, because nothing in wood is stronger than white oak, and the heaviest duty casters we could find that still looked decent on the piece (these are rated 250 lb each). When I delivered this to them, they couldn't believe how stout and heavy it was, as their old one made of junk wood was falling apart and 1/3 the weight. The Principal of the School said "Perfect!" And because it was for the local high school and I believe in giving back to the community I did it for my cost + freight for them, to make it affordable. It should last them at least 100 years....Go Hayfield Hawks!
