Question Keeping a pet cover from slipping on leather

Hello! We just bought our first piece of leather furniture. It's a 3-seat recliner couch. I believe it's a protected top-grain leather.

We have a cat who has two habits that could be a problem: 1, he sometimes goes on a rampage and races around the room, flying up the seats and backs of the furniture; 2, he likes to knead.

So, I bought a Sure-Fit "pet cover". It's thick and a good size. Problem is, it's too slippery on the leather.

So my question is: Can I use a no-slip rug pad between the leather and the pet cover? I'm considering one that's sort of a honeycomb foam-type pad. It's 100% polyvinyl chloride. Would that harm the leather?

    Thanks for your input!

I don't see that anyone has replied to this yet so I'll give it a go. As long as the no-slip rug pad doesn't have any adhesive or residue, then that should be a fine choice. Just don't forget about your leather underneath there. Use a leather conditioner regularly to prevent cracking and don't let any moisture seep into the rug pad. Clean up spills as fast as possible.

Thank you, circletrader! We will be sure to condition it twice a year, and I'll also try to take the pet cover off periodically to let the leather breathe. And No Spills Left Behind!! Thanks again.
