That 'flaking' can happen on any finished leather, regardless of where it originates as that is nothing more than the painted finish chipping off. What is paint but a pigment that adheres to a surface? Add to that the surface in question is flexible and it can make for some small microdots of color loss over time. Most of these chips are the size of the head of the pin and look like small white "dots". It does not happen frequently but it can occur and it matters not if its a 1 or a 5 price grade. Aniline hides will never do this because they are dyed, not painted....but they have their own issues as well from time to time.

Are these three leathers still produced in Germany with the new vendor?
