Wax removal

I am trying to find out how to remove wax from a used pool table. The wood of the pool tale is cherry I think......not totally sure. Was told that pure gum turpentine would work, but wanted to make sure before I used it. Is distilled turpentine the same thing? It is a used pool table and has wax buildup on it.

Mineral spirits is best, it won't affect any underlying finish.
