I should have clarified....I am considering purchasing this couch. I think $2500 is too high but I really don't have a clue what it is worth.
How old is the piece? Have you seen it in person? Aspen is a GR 2 leather, the MSRP on a new one is $ 8,355 (and of course no one sells at MSRP). in excellent condition, it would be worth about half the price of a new one. Buying used upholstery is like buying used clothing or shoes, not like a car or a house.

First, thank you for the response! The sofa is 5 years old according to the lady who owns it and she is the second owner. I am going to look at it in person today. What things would you look for if you were looking at a used H&M piece?
Second owner in 5 years? That's odd! First thing I would look for is if the house is clean and tidy and if there are pets in the house. If there are pets - then my primary concern is flea eggs in the sofa. You do not want to bring those to your home and it does occur.
Other than that anything else is going to be visible to you on general appearances. For that kind of money it should look pretty close to new.
