Default An issue with a new B&Y Reid sofa

    Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me with something. I recently bought a Bradington Young Reid recliner in Grade 5 Elmotique leather. However, after about 1 1/2 months of use, I have already noticed that there are butt imprints on both the reclining cushions. This is surprising because I only weight 135 pounds (and am 6' tall) and am the main user. They are not huge, but one can clearly make out my derriere in the leather (the leather has become slightly loose in that area).

Is this simply normal for a leather couch? I spent the money on the couch hoping it would last a longtime unlike even couch I have had before.

FYI, I did order the couch with the new cushions that meet California Prop 65 requirements. Not sure if that makes a difference.

    Super thanks for any advice,

Yes, you are going to get some 'puddling' as its known in the Carolinas, once the sofa is used and it breaks in. Part of that is the standard cushion core in the 912 series which is premier down, and that's softer and less resilient than a downgraded poly-dacron core. The solution would be to replace the cores with 21 oz density Qualux cores that are slightly overfilled and the leather would be much more taut - but it won't sit nearly as nice.
