I've noticed when I turn over some leather swatches, that some are nearly the same color as the actual leather color. Others, are much lighter than the swatch color. Does this have to do with whether or not the leather was dyed all the way through or a paint was just applied to the surface? If a piece were to wear/crack (due to improper care, cleaning, sun, etc) would those leathers that are dyed all the way through, show less wear? I'm looking at samples I just received. Kip denim, Kip charcoal, and Columbia taupe look to be the same color all the way through. However, Kip Haze and Kip Seamist are very light under the surface color.

I do realize that proper cleaning and care should eliminate cracking. I am a little concerned about friction wear from pieces that are used quite a bit.
