Thank you. I called Hooker and they wanted pictures so I sent them an email with a few views of the failure and of the entire recliner. They also said I need a "mechanism" as they do not manufacture them, they buy them from a supplier. They couldn't offer much more although I'm pressing them to tell me what is currently on the recliner as it is so that I can inquire around without having to have the chair/mechanism physically with me.
I know a machinist too, might just ask him to turn a few of these on his lathe and on the one end, fit a threaded end cap on it vs. the weak "rivet" design. There is a yellow sticker on my mechanism that shows a number: 93263 but no other id on the maker. I also noticed the circular base with the 4 extensions that hold the round base to the swivel base is cracked in three locations. It is held on with 4 machine screws, I think I'll just replace it with the same diameter using a good piece of hardwood which will give 100% support on the carpet vs. just the 4 extensions and circular perimeter foot. The design doesn't seem to fair well on carpets.
