Here is a sample photo of two identical swatches made up. The sample on the left is WELT TRIM. The sample on the right is a TOP STITCH.

So, as you can see, a Top Stitch does not mean totally smooth, however the joint 'seam' is not as tall and pronounced as a welt trim.

To clarify are "No Welt" and "Top Stitch" the same or different?

BTW excellent samples to show your customers!

They are different. A Welt trim has a 'cord' of fiber placed in between the two seams. Top Stitch is just the two panels sewn together.

Was going to ask about top stitch and then saw it was already mentioned as an option!

Here are photos of some various cushion closure options, these are all done on Hancock and Moore pieces, however many makers offer these and they don't really vary. Don't be surprised if your local dealer is not familiar with these, it's not something most salespeople get asked or know what they look like.

Here's Welt Trim, the traditional closure and "old school" done on better upholstery.

Next is Saddle Stitch, and attractive closure that is one often used on more contemporary pieces.

This is Top Stitch, very simple and effective.

And here's is a custom sewing detail that Hancock & Moore does, called the "I" Stitch. There is an extra charge for this. Looks great on burnished and rustic leathers.

As in the first post of the thread, no upcharges for any of the standard stitch closures.

Does the no charge Saddle Stitch apply to all pieces? We are doing a Your Way Sectional.

    Thank you,

Correct, as long as the design of the piece allows for it there is no additional charge.
