The 4716 Sundance is Hancock & Moore's # 1 selling sofa. It's also a big sofa, with a 50" Depth, and that means it needs room to get into your residence. Since there are so many of these sold I worked with Jimmy Moore and Christie at H&M today to get the definitive answer on how big your doorway opening needs to be to get this delivered. This assumes a straight in delivery with no railings or banisters impeding, or corners inside the doorway requiring a turn. Make sure you check your doorways, especially if ordering long distance as most stores (mine included) do not accept returns based on it not being able to go into your residence. Do your homework now and save yourself heartache on delivery day. Jimmy went back in the plant an measured one out coming off the production line and here's the findings.
A 34" opening is needed with the back legs removed.
That's going to be your minimum. If you have a 33" opening you will have to get a your doorway widened or find a different model sofa! The back legs will come off with a # 2 Square Drive bit, as well as the fronts if needed. Keep in mind that many delivery service trucks will not have any tools to do this, you should provide them for them. A power screwdriver/ drill with that # 2 Square Drive bit means leg removal is quick and easy. You can get that bit at any hardware / home improvement store for $ 2 or less.
Shown here is my floor model, sideways as if it were being delivered, and photos of the underside of the front and rear legs where you can see the screw hole inserts.

Thanks so much for checking on this issue, Duane! We tested and love Hancock & Moore's 4716 Sundance in Claret and are very happy our doorway is just wide enough for delivery of this beauty. I really appreciate you providing the tool information for what we need to have on hand for the leg removal and also for posting pictures of your floor model and it's legs, showing the screw hole inserts. It was a pleasure talking to you today! Thanks again! Mary
Glad to do it, Mary. I always try to be as sure as I can ahead of time, no one wants to order something and then find out it won't fit in their home. It happens often enough that I like to do a little pre-planning. I had thought a Sundance would go through a 33" door but Jimmy Moore says probably not....so now we know. This assumes of course, a halfway decent delivery team on the truck (which most are). Thanks for your order today, its most appreciated.
