    Default Question about flippable cushions

In this thread and others on this forum, it appears that removable seat and back cushions are one-sided, i.e. they can't be flipped in case one side is damaged or stained. It looks like velcro is used to keep cushions in place.

Is this a universal practice in the leather industry? On fabric pieces, I'm used to being able to flip cushions around in case of "accidents".

Correct. Leather is not porous like fabric, so the air from sitting on the cushion has to have somewhere to escape, so the bottom or back of every leather casing is a vent panel. Fabric lets the air escape through the weave, that's why its flippable. Leather being 4x more durable than the best fabric, the flipping part is not really necessary.
