Default Duane, need your recommendation. :)

I have been using scand-oil to clean and treat my wood furniture for years. I like it, it works - but it is expensive and hard to find. Do you have other options you like?

    Thanks!

I don't use wood treatment products myself. Most I do is use OZ polish when I want a little gloss and depth on a piece. I used to use paste wax, but it became a bit of a chore. The key on wood furniture is to not use anything with silicone as a chemical base of the polish or wax (such as Pledge). Silicone penetrates the topcoat and goes into the wood, and makes it very difficult - if not impossible - to refinish a piece, as it makes all new finishes 'fisheye' once the old is removed.

Generally a coat of shellac will cure fisheye problems. it bonds extraordinarily well and works as a primer or base for many top coats. I use it all the time when spraying waterborne or nitrocellulose finishes on old work.
