Hi Sarah! FINALLY - it got to Texas! Looks to me like John nailed it, what do you think? Does it meet your expectations? It's a pretty good-sized piece - fills that wall up in your dining room. I see you picked up on the hand-cut dovetails (a lot of woodworkers use a Leigh jig) and the hand-scraped drawer bottoms. That brass that John uses comes out of England, its a bit pricey, but looks better than the USA made brass. I trust the delivery team got that piece and your recliner in OK?

    Thanks!

Hi Duane. Yes, everything arrived safely & is perfect. The sideboard is truly a work of art! John got everything 100% perfect on the piece. I can't believe that he was able to do this off of that tiny picture! I will definitely be purchasing more pieces in the future. The H&M chair arrived safely too & it is exactly what I wanted. I guess I am just so excited and impressed by the sideboard that the chair is almost secondary to me.
I'll post some pics of the chair when I get a chance later this weekend.

Oh, and HDS (the delivery service) arrived exactly on time & they were very professional. They did comment that the H&M recliner was incredibly heavy & the only recliner they had ever lifted that weighed that much had some serious mechanical-lift mechanisms built into it. :]

Outstanding! Glad to hear it Sarah. You know, a piece like that will last for several generations so its good to start Providence on it. Take a pencil (not a pen, for pens fade) and on one of the drawer bottoms write "Handade for Sarah G......, of Texas by John Buchanan of Ohio, May 2009." As the years go by and you hand that down to your kids, write that in pencil below it, with the date. And your kids do that with your grandkids, and so on down the line. In a hundred years from now, that Sideboard will just be getting a real nice patina on it and there will be a family history on the drawer itself. I do this with all my better pieces in my home and the finest antiques have this record on them as well.

You've got a great start on a couple of high-quality pieces! And thanks for your patience with HDS, they had a week of screwups in their logistics when Ann was out sick, and not only your order but about five others placed through me were messed up.

Be sure to treat the leather on the H&M recliner 2x a year so it stays clean and NEVER use any silicone polish on your new sideboard.

    Thanks again, Sarah.
