    Default Recliner Excess Noise

Long time owners of La-Z-Boy furniture. We recently purchased two identical new La-Z-Boy recliners after having wood floors installed. The legendary "clunking" noise when lowering the recliners footrests is truly excessive. I contacted La-Z-Boy. A tech came out but found no problems and said the sound was normal. Putting a carpeted mat under the chairs did not noticeabily lessen the noise.

Has anyone discovered a way to lessen the clunk?

It's a mechanical device and really no way to sound deaden it. I assume it's a manual unit, as motorized ones are whisper quiet. Only suggestion is to use less force when closing....good luck.
