Hey All!
Checking in from Austin, TX. Closing on my first home soon and found this site when researching the quality of some furniture manufacturers. Am not very knowledgeable in this realm but certainly would like to learn more and put my money into quality goods.
Two purchases that I am wanting to make on day zero are counter stools and a table.
For the stools, I love these: http://www.roomandboard.com/catalog/...and-bar-stools
Simple and elegant and the contoured seat is a great bonus.
Question then is does anyone have experience with this manufacturer and if so, does the price match said quality?
Thanks,
Alex
It's a glue socket build, and on top-quality units of that design, the legs should be bore and wedge where the leg comes through the seat, is visible, and secured with a through-wedge. That locks the leg to the chair seat. On glue-socket bonds, the only thing holding the leg in place is pressure and the glue, and what will happen over time is the glue bond breaks and the stool becomes wobbly. I personally would not pay that price for that kind of build because I know they will have a limited life span.
Here's two photos of the correct way to build that kind of piece.

Thanks for the reply!
Where can I procure this style of stool built correctly as you described? Do you sell these?
Appreciate it!
I do not have a source for those at this time. Here's a maker that does them right - you will have to call for pricing.
