    Default Farm Aid Concert

We went to Farm Aid last night in Bristol VA and I have to say, without question, that was the best concert i have ever been to, and pal Scott Coulter agreed.

We got there right at 7 p.m., when Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds were coming on. I have never - in my life - see two guys rock a house with only two acoustic guitars. They had a Wall of Sound coming from the stage and while Tim doesn't say much or smile, he is the master of that instrument.

John Mellencamp was next, and brought a full band (each artist played one hour). He was good, but Matthews was a hard act to follow. Still, all those classics from the 70's and 80's you grew up with.

I've never seen Neil Young. Not all that big a fan of his until last night and then he just killed it. For a 70-year-old man he has an energy and bonding with the crowd that was just flat out tremendous. He ended with "Keeping on Rocking in the Free World" and had the crowd on its feet, including staid ole me.

10 p.m. the one and only Willie Nelson came on. 83 years old and he will just blow you away with his unique style of music. There is only one Willie, all bow to the Master. That hour flew by and was over way too fast, I could listen to him all night long.

Well-behaved crowd, it was big fun. Well worth the time and money.

    That's a really nice line-up.
I've had tickets to see Neil Young four times, and the concert canceled, each time.
I was on-stage for Mellencamp once, when he was known as John Cougar. That was interesting (but, I was really there to see The Kinks, who he was opening for).

I'll be going next year - wherever they play. But Willie has to be in the show....he's 83 now and has emphysema, so who knows how many more shows he has in him....
