Default Old Marble-Topped Chest/Commode: What kind of wood is this?

I'm taking a trip out to Rhode Island on Friday to have a look-see at this lovely little chest. I cannot, however, identify the wood. Anybody have a good guess?

First two photos are too small, I'd like to see them larger.

Nothing exotic, that's a plain soft maple chest, or perhaps even made of Ash. There is no grain pattern to the wood, and made of unremarkable wood. The door is made incorrectly as there should not be a beaded panel in there. Brasses are too large for the piece and out of proportion. Wheels on the bottom tell me its Victorian era, or later.

Don't overpay! This piece has no collectible value.

That's good information, Duane--thank you. I was thinking of using it as a bathroom vanity. It's actually about 4" too short for a vanity, but I thought I could take the casters off and put on bun feet, instead, to raise it. She's asking $225--is that too much? In any case, I'm beginning to think that a pedestal sink might be better.

Its hard to say, $ 225 means $ 150 cash as she's not going to find a buyer for it otherwise. Pretty hard item to sell. If you like it, go for it. But a 4" short dimension is hard to make up without some work on your part.
