I think most people use the Author chair as a fireside-type reading chair. It has a low seat height and lots of room in it. One of our forum members had us make one that was 4" wider at the inside of the arms, so her husband could sit cross-legged in it. We did. He liked it so much, they ordered a duplicate of it a couple years later!

Sounds like a nice chair, just not what I am looking for.
I need to replace an old Lazyboy rocker/recliner for my living room. I will sit in it the most. I am 5’3” and looking for something to read in, watch tv, and just curl up and relax. I often curl my legs up in my current chair (seat is 22” wide) that’s why I was interested in the author chair. I do like the rocking motion of my current chair so am considering a glider or something that can be converted into a glider. I have my eye on the Saunders Glider, the Daly glider or the Austin Wall Hugger/Glider.
Any input on these or any others that may work well for me?
Also, I would consider buying a small ottoman or bootstool if the chair does not recline.
I plan to purchase an Austin High Back Sofa and loveseat. Also a Campaign Ottoman. So I am looking for a nice chair to work well with these pieces.
Any suggestions are welcome.
