Nice choice! I like the contrast of the light colored leather and the darker wood. Beautiful piece.
Wow. I knew that would come out good when we discussed it on the phone, but I didn't think it would look THAT good. That's art. More than furniture. Burl Elm just got elevated to one of my top picks for small pieces as a cool leather. Good picks Kevin. and I know you enjoyed your VIP tour with Jimmy Moore at the factory.

Duane,
Without all of the pictures of H&M furniture that are posted to the forum, the pictures you took at High Point a few years ago, and your advice on different leathers, the bench would not have been made. Thanks!
We knew we wanted a bench for our entry way and my wife had narrowed things down to a few contenders. When I searched the forum for pictures of the different benches, I found one of your comments about the Marseilles finish on a Drake bench at High Point. We looked at the picture and my wife fell in love with the bench and the finish. From there, it was simply narrowing down a few leather choices, looking at swatches, and getting your feedback. Since I have been pleased with the durability of the Burl Cocoa leather on our barstools, it came down to the Burl Elm or the softness of a Capri or a Quintessence hide. Your advice concerning pressure marks from packages on the different hides tipped the scales toward the Burl Elm.
Thanks for arranging the H&M tour, Jimmy Moore was a great host. I think I could have spent a few days just looking at the leather in the storage area. I think the best part of the tour was meeting the men and women working there. They are good, hard working craftsmen who take an incredible amount of pride in producing a great product. The tour was well worth the two day drive home (my wife routinely questions my sanity).
Wow ! That is a gorgeous bench. I just love the detail in the wood. I think that color is just so perfect for this piece.
Wow, that is a really beautiful bench!
