Default Need apartment 4 leg bed frame for an air mattress

    Hi-
I will be moving into an apartment soon and I am looking for a lightweight frame for an air mattress.
I have been looking at platform beds which allow under bed storage but they seem to require box springs??
I need something that one person can carry up to an apartment.
    Any Ideas would be appreciate!
    Thanks

Not sure of your style or budget, but Ikea sells slats for their bed frames that are designed to be used without a box spring, assuming you have a central bar for them to rest on. You can use them with one of their bed frames, or with others as long as the measurement is right. Your cheapest option is probably going to be just a metal frame you can get at pretty much any furniture store + those slats, or a used frame off craigslist.

I see so you can get these slats to go into a bed frame which can support an air mattress. If that will work, it sounds like a great idea. I feel kind of dumb because I have never had to deal with beds before.

Just my opinion, but I don't think you will find an air mattress suitable for everyday use.

    Hi-
I would agree. If I can find a long term living space, then Ill get something better. Right now I have to assume that Ill be finding something while I make sure the new position is a good long term fit.
For that reason I need a bed that is easy to transport and/or somewhat disposable. I need storage so the bedframe needs to be on 4 legs.

Agreed on the air mattress, although I've known people who slept on them for years when younger... The good thing about something like a frame + slats is you can re-use it when you are ready to buy a real mattress.

I appreciate the advice. I just need a twin so hopefully I can find something locally. Can someone school me on why a "quality" air mattresses are not good in the long term?

I would opt for a futon over an air mattress any day. Of course, a real mattress is the best option for a good night's rest.
