Default Hancock & Moore Gas Cylinder Strut replacement in Stock

As H&M Tilt Back Chairs get older, they can lose the pressure out of the nitrogen gas strut that allows the chair to tilt back and come forward again. In the past, I have ordered these on an "as needed" basis, and typically its 3 weeks before they arrive to the customer. I decided to begin stocking these and can get them out same day - cutting the wait time down considerably. These will fit all H&M tilt back chairs, instructions are included with each one.

See that small chrome release button on the end in the photo? DO NOT press that or play with it. Put the strut in and don't activate it until it is fully installed. If you still can't resist monkeying around and trying it out first, be aware you may have to buy another replacement as it may not fully return.

Price is $ 65 per strut - add $ 10 for shipping USPS priority mail

You can now order these off of our website: https://keepingroom.com/leather-care

While at the factory, I happened to spot an Austin Tilt Back Chair open in the back before they applied the rear cover (called the Outback), and took the opportunity to snap a couple shots so show you the position of the gas strut in the piece. So, to get to this area, all you need to do is untack the bottom of the Outback, which you can easily do by working a plastic knife into the vertical attachment area near the bottom of the chair on each side (this is why the lower panel on the backs do not have nail trim on them - so you can lift the back off). Just loosen it from the frame and fold it up. You can use painter's tape to hold the leather do the back, but DO NOT use high adhesion packing tape as you will damage the leather. Here's what you will see when the Outback is lifted up and the strut exposed.

It's very simple to replace the strut, no special tools required. Detach the cable from the lever, unbolt the strut from the top and the bottom is held in with a clip. Slip the new one on - re-attach the cable then tap down the Outback with a rubber mallet and that's all there is to it.

WARNING: If the silver button on top of the cylinder is pushed before installing it, you will render the unit inoperative and it will not be covered by warranty

We have two H&M chairs that the hydraulic cylinders are not working. These chairs are around 23 years old, I see by your post you stock these, we would like to get two of these and have a furniture person who can install. If however they are the wrong cylinder, are we able to return?
Also, how do we go about ordering?
    Thanks,
    Les

I have these in stock, there is only one replacement strut available - not various models. I don't accept returns on these because I have no way of telling if you have damaged these or extended them prior to installation.

Call the store with a credit card at 703-360-6399 or you can PayPal to keepingroom@gmail.com.

    Thanks
