Default Hooker # 299-10-301 Knee Hole Desk in Cherry

I bought this for my mother's new 1-bedroom apartment, she needed a small desk capable of holding hanging file folders, and we didn't have much room to work with in her space, its already pretty full and I had to avoid overlapping her air return vent. Fact is, most small desks cannot accommodate hanging file folders, Hooker solves this problem by turning them 90 degrees and they go long ways in the lower drawers (letter size only). At 48" long, this was perfect and it has a leather top.

This piece is made in Vietnam, and I have to tell you the woodworking on it is pretty good. And the price is excellent. You can buy this for desk for $ 935 + shipping from my store (not sure if I'm allowed to post the price - seems every other retailer sells it for $ 1,159. <shrug>). Anyways, I like it....my mother LOVES IT (she really does). So if you need a small desk and have limited space, give this one a look - I'd buy it again for sure.

Photo is in her apartment after I installed it yesterday. Note there is not much space for a chair, I don't think a wheeled office chair will work with this unit.

I find the Hooker desks to be a really good value, in fact I have another new one (different model than this) in the truck that we will be installing in the store this Saturday. I'll post photos of it once we get it in the store .

Home office desks tend to fall in the cheap laminate Staples/Office Depot $ 400 category, then zoom up to the very nice $ 5,000 ones from Kindel / Karges / Councill, etc. I think there is a definite market for a home office desk that is decent and priced around $ 1K to $ 1,500 and started looking around. I always look at it from the perspective of "What would I want to spend if for my own home?" And for me, I'd want to be under $ 2K for that home library desk - the product from Hooker is right on target and it passes my critical eye test for construction and joinery.
