That doesn't work either. Folks will give you a credit card, but they get really twisted if you charge them for the sample, been there - done that. It also creates an adversarial tone and that's not a good way to have a business relationship.
The real key is for people to simply return the samples! If they do that, then there is always some for the next person. Even if they don't want to make the trip to the store, they can drop them in the mail - so easy, and considerate. They're my favorite kind of customers.
