Are Kip leathers going to be as durable/good looking as other grade 1 leathers since they come from younger calfs?
I have been planning on buying a City Sofa in Cavalier Mocha but came across a local retailer offering a new-in-the-box City Sofa in Kip mocha for a ridiculous price.
I like both colors. I know the Cavalier is better and Duane would recommend it given the option, but my question is whether Kip leathers have any performance/appearance traits versus other grade 1 leathers that I need to be aware of as an owner.
I'm never heard of Kip coming from younger calfs - that's a first.
Price grades are just that - they are not quality grades. Cavalier is a semi-aniline, Kip is a finished leather. On the # 9840, the Cavalier will eventually go away as a program leather as stocks run out, and be replaced by the Kip series.

Thanks, I was just googling "Kip" looking for information and found lots of discussion on baseball glove forums saying it was from younger calfs
"Kip" has nothing to do with baseball gloves, its just the name of the series that H&M gives to that particular leather - they make the names up.
