Default Sundance Sectional or 2 Couches w/ 2 Chairs?

We were almost set on getting the double couch Sundance Sectional with a 4X4 Ottoman, but I drew everything out to scale on graph paper and I really feel 2 Couches and 2 Chairs with a thinner ottoman fits my space much better.

I used the Rugby Couch and Loungers as my example below on how 2 couches and 2 lounger chairs would fit the space compared to the sectional with the ottoman. I could add a table between the loungers or put them at an angle and add 2 oval tables between the chairs and couches as well.

The graph squares are to scale, they are 1’x1’ squares. My floorplan is entirely open, behind the couches you can see starts my kitchen island. The brown circles are columns. The space available, not including the shaded hallway space, is 16’ wide and 20’ Long. As you can see the one side has windows and a slider that lead to a covered porch, I would need around 32 inches of space or so from this.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated-

Here are a few I saw online, not the style I like, just an idea of the layout-

    Here are a few pictures-

The one showing the the fireplace straight ahead I’m taking from my kitchen island area. The one showing all that dead space is from my entry foyer and the one on an angle is from the open dining area. I labeled all of those on my drawing.

I’m afraid with the sectional I’m going to have the same issue I have now which is a lot of dead space. We were looking at big sectionals so we don’t block the windows/sliding door, but we have a chair about 30” away from it now and it’s plenty of room to navigate behind.

I like the idea of 8 seating spots and I would LOVE to have a lounger, who doesn’t like a lounger???

I have that same layout in my own home, except with just one recliner instead of two. It works well.

A table between two loungers boxes you in too much. I found that even two loungers did as well which is why we only have one.

Keep in mind the Sundance sofas are 50" deep, which is 7" more than the Rugby Club you are using as a template.

If I go 2 couches I don’t think the Sundance works, I like the Rugby Club as well so I used that to see how it fit.

I’m still debating which design will work better for us and the room, the Sundance Sectional is so large I could move it back some from where I put it in my drawing and I’m pretty sure it would still fill the room. But I do like the idea of 2 couches and 2 chairs or loungers as well. Tough decisions.

This is the room we spend the most time in so comfort is very important too. There are 5 of us (My wife an I, twin 13 year old boys, and my 9 year old girl) and our little dog.

Sundance sofas have a curve in the front of the frame and the back as well, which accounts for that large depth of 50" each. They are very handsome though, especially from the backside. The sectional is curved as well....you can see a photo of one here on the forum by searching "Sundance Kipling Cognac".

Here's a photo i took this morning of my room with a similar layout. Our 55" Flat Panel is enclosed in the cupboard to the right of the fireplace. We like to maintain wide walk spaces, so only one recliner for us. Try not to overcrowd the room is my advice.
