Re: sofa
A sofa that sinks usually has a poor suspension. Avoid a webbed suspension, they are the most failure-prone. No Sag springs are better, then drop-in spring grids and top shelf is an 8 way hand-tied suspension over a steel-band reinforced deck. Solid maple frames have less torsional twist than plywood frames ("engineered hardwoods"). Any of the Hancock & Moore items will have that latter kind of build, which is why the suspension never fails on them. Just pick the one that suits your style and budget, it will hold up if you take care of the cover.
