    Default Leather Question

We currently have a Hancock & Moore leather couch which we love. We are now looking into getting a leather recliner for my husband. During warm weather when my husband works around the house he gets quite sweaty and relaxes in his current old upholstered recliner to cool down. Would sitting in a leather recliner while sweaty be a problem, cause damage to the leather? Sorry if this is a strange question. We are new to leather furniture, and have had our leather sofa for just 5 months. We thought any info would be helpful before seriously shopping for a leather recliner.

    Thanks,
    Andrea G.

The difference is when he's hot and sweaty and hits that fabric recliner, the sweat is going into the material itself, whereas on leather its going to lay on top of it, so he won't get the cooling effect on leather that he is on fabric. The upside is the leather is MUCH easier to keep clean. Have him try out on the sofa, its going to feel the same. Leathers that are less glossy in finish tend to be less sticky.

Thanks so much for the prompt reply.

The real question we have is will sweat that may get on the leather affect it in any adverse way? For example, discolor it like body oils can. Our main concern is damaging the leather.

    Thanks,

He'd have to be seriously, really sweaty to damage the leather - as in puddling sweat. I plop in my H&M Sadler Recliner all the time when sweaty from working outside, because it's right under ceiling fan in the room. After ten years of doing that, no ill effects. I kind wish the Sadler WOULD die so I can get a H&M Monaco Recliner. My wife won't let me change out the recliner until that one is worn out!

Thanks for the reply. That's exactly the info we were looking for. My dear hubby sweats when he works, however, it's not puddling sweat.

    We really appreciate the info!
