Is the Hooker Latitude Executive Desk a good value in terms of materials and construction? If so is $1,300 a good price for the piece.

I think Hooker desks are great values for the money, I have three on display in my store. Pretty hard to find anything that nicely made for the price. Only negative on them is they are heavy - that unit you are looking at is right around 300 lb. I would own one myself.

I appreciate taking your time to answer my questions. After reading some of your older posts back in 2011 you strongly advice against buying Hooker furniture due to its “mediocre” construction and import from China. I noticed that the pieces are now imported from Vietnam and that you carry such brand in your store. Has their quality improve drastically since 2011? Like always your time it’s greatly appreciated.

Things change. It's 2019 now and what was posted in 2011 may not be relevant today.

Hooker imports from Vietnam, China, even Italy. Is it top-quality? No, it's not. But I think it's O.K., my only real issue is the weight, they are very heavy and difficult to move around in a home.

A really good desk made in the USA in that form factor is going to cost appx $ 6,500, depending on the maker. What Hooker offers is a decent product at a price point that most people are willing to pay for a home office desk.
